      Chandigarh: Two cross FIRs have been registered following a clash between neighbours at Burail village. In a complaint Rafeeq alleged that Mohammed Ismile Mohammed Yunus and Mohammed Salim attacked him and his friend Kasim with sharp weapons and sticks on January 12. In another complaint Saleem Ahmed alleged that Mohammed Tayab Mohammed Kasim and Rafeeq attacked him and his friends Yunus and Ismile with sharp weapons. A case was registered at the Sector 17 police station. In another case a truck driver Satnam Singh a resident of Trivedi camp with poppy husk.

      Chandigarh: The city on Wednesday reported 37 fresh cases of Covid and one death. While the UT tally jumped to 20415 the toll was pushed to 329. A total of 14 more patients recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours.

      Tribune News ServiceChandigarh January 11As many as 13 more birds were found dead in different areas of the city today. He said of the eight samples sent earlier to the laboratory three had already reported negative for avian influenza. Nine birds were found dead in the Darua area of the UT while the other carcasses were found in Sector 26 39 and 40. At least seven birds were found dead in different areas of the city yesterday. More than two dozen birds including a migratory bird have been found dead in the city in the past nearly a week.
    • Obese city Chandigarh s older adults fattest in country | Chandigarh NYOOOZ
      Naina MishraTribune News ServiceChandigarh January 11The city has reported the highest prevalence of overweight and obesity and the second highest prevalence of cardiovascular diseases among older adults (aged 45 years and above) in the country according to the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India (LASI) released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The overall prevalence of overweight/obesity among older adults in India is 28 per cent. “Around half of the older population of Chandigarh (56 per cent) Delhi (53 per cent) and Punjab (49 per cent) is either overweight or obese” said the study. Chandigarh has also been ranked fifth to report the higher prevalence of diabetes mellitus (25%) among the elderly. A higher proportion of the elderly has been diagnosed with multi-morbidity in Kerala (52 per cent) Chandigarh (41 per cent) and Lakshadweep (40 per cent).

      The UT forest and wildlife department confirmed on Tuesday that all eight samples of dead birds sent to the Northern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Jalandhar, on January 6 and 7 have tested negative for bird flu.

Ravibir Singh Grewal, 55, the club’s new president said, their next target is to bring an Asian tour event to Chandigarh by hosting a ?1.5-crore prize money tournament, the highest so far.

      Chandigarh: The city on Saturday reported 50 fresh Covid-19 cases taking the tally to 20251. Besides 61 fresh cases surfaced till Saturday evening. Among the fresh cases 44 were reported from Mohali (urban) three from Dera Bassi one from Kurali two from Gharuan five from Dhakoli and six from Kharar. — TNS23 more infected in Panchkula districtPanchkula: The district on Saturday reported 23 fresh coronavirus cases taking the tally to 10199. The Covid toll remained at 144.

    • Snatchers target 2 women in Chandigarh | CHANDIGARH NYOOOZ

A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. In the other incident a motorcycle-borne miscreant snatched a purse from a woman Soniya (37) near her house in Sector 44 around 8.50 pm. The police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station.
