    • 67 new Covid cases in Chandigarh | CHANDIGARH NYOOOZ
      Chandigarh March 2Chandigarh on Tuesday reported 67 more coronavirus cases taking the infection tally to 21906 according to a medical bulletin. The death of a 70-year-old woman took the toll to 354 as per the bulletin. The number of active cases rose from 430 on Monday to 472 on Tuesday it said. A total of 24 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection taking the number of cured people to 21080 it said. A total of 258184 samples have been taken for testing so far and of them 235319 tested negative while reports of 117 were awaited the bulletin said.

Meanwhile after 54 holes the highlight of the day was a 1-under-par 71 round by veteran Chandigarh golfer HS Kang senior most golfer in the field.

      Chandigarh February 23Three interactive sessions on 'Career Guidance and Counselling' under the “Samagra Shiksha Chandigarh” were conducted by Dr Bharat Assistant Professor University Institute of Legal Studies Panjab University for the students of Class XI and XII at Government Senior Secondary School Sector 45-A. He also emphasised that education not only helped in personality development of a child but also played a vital role in 'character building' which couldn't be undermined at any cost. He underlined various career options available to the students in the higher education institutions in general and the PU in particular. There were three sessions for the students from various streams which were followed by a question-answer session and a quiz. “Samagra Shiksha” is an overarching programme for the school education sector extending from pre-school to Class XII and has the broader goal of improving school effectiveness measured in terms of equal opportunities for schooling and equitable learning outcomes.

      On Sunday, Chandigarh reported 28 new cases detected through RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen tests taking the tally of cases to 21,425. There are 186 active cases here at present. No Covid-related death was reported in the city on Sunday however, 349 people have succumbed to the disease here so far.

      Tribune News ServiceChandigarh February 21In yet another auction of heritage furniture from the city a cabinet from the High Court has been listed for auction at Chippendale in Australia on March 2. “The cabinet with three doors and two drawers and 'open shelving to the reverse' which is likely to fetch nearly Rs4.57 lakh to Rs6.85 lakh will be auctioned by Shapiro on March 2” said Ajay Jagga member Heritage Protection Cell Chandigarh. Similar heritage items from the city will be auctioned in the USA and Paris on February 25 and 27 respectively. An armchair was likely to fetch nearly Rs3.63 lakh to Rs5.09 lakh in the auction in the USA on February 25 and five heritage items designed by Pierre Jeanneret would be auctioned in Paris on February 27 he said. He said a pair of stools a pair of chairs easy chairs a desk with a rectangular top upholstered in green leather and a dining table were likely to be sold for nearly Rs33.87 lakh in the auction in Paris.
