Chandigarh based group runs a project to reuse discarded earthen lamps to raise money for children's education. Swarmani youth welfare association Chandigarh has initiated a project named “Deep Se Sehyog Tak” to recycle the diyas (earthen lamps) collected last year. The youth had collected thirty thousand diyas last year after Diwali. After segregating, cleaning and coloring twenty thousand diyas, it were given new attractive colorful look in Khuda Alisher village. A pack of 24 pieces packed in eco friendly bag will be sold out online at the cost of Rs 50 (each pack), the group also provides home delivery option. One of known shopping mall at Chandigarh has also allowed them to sell these packs on their premises. The collected amount will be used for the education of needed children.
