Tribune Web DeskChandigarh June 16Chandigarh on Wednesday reported 41 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths related to the virus.
The total number of cases in the city has reached 61241 of which 462 are active cases.
The death toll in the city has reached 799 as the two patients suffering from co-morbidities succumbed to the virus.
A total of 63 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic as per Ministry of Health guidelines.

Tribune News ServiceAmit BathlaTribune News ServicePanchkula June 19With the district administration cracking down on private hospitals over complaints of excess charging for Covid-19 treatment complaints continue to pour in before the eight-member committee looking into the issue.
Wary of the action by the administration private hospitals have already agreed to pay back the excess amount in a time-bound manner.
The district administration had also asked the hospitals to conduct a self-audit of all Covid related bills and submit the report to the committee for cross checking.
Gupta had also written to Health Minister Anil Vij requesting for an audit of bills issued by the private hospitals.
In June last year the Haryana Government had capped the daily package rate for Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals between Rs 8000 and Rs 18000. - PU scholars protest outside office of Vice Chancellor The Tribune India | Chandigarh NYOOOZ
Tribune News ServiceChandigarh June 18More than hundred research scholars staged a protest outside the Vice-Chancellor's office at Panjab University here today to press for their demands.
The protesting scholars' sought extension in submission of thesis besides allowing hostels to all the scholars.
Student representatives of various parties urged the PU administration to fulfil the demands of scholars at the earliest and stop harassing them by calling their parents and respective guides.
After protesting at the VC office for an hour students decided to march towards the VC house.

New Delhi June 20Further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Delhi Rajasthan west Uttar Pradesh Haryana Chandigarh and Punjab is likely to be slow.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) made the forecast on Sunday based on large-scale features showing no favourable condition.
The wind pattern by the numerical models also do not indicate any favourable condition for sustained rainfall over the region during the forecast period the IMD said.
Moderate to severe thunderstorms accompanied by frequent cloud to ground lightning is very likely over east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during next 24 hours the IMD further said.

Panchkula June 17Haryana Speaker and local MLA Gian Chand Gupta flagged off 10 mini-buses of the Haryana Roadways from the Sector 5 bus stand here today with a view to providing economical accessible and better transport facilities to the citizens.
Initially these buses will ply on five routes - Chandikotla to Chandigarh Sector 17; Jalauli to Saketri; Singhpura to Chandigarh Sector 17; Singhpura to Saketri; and Kalka to Saketri.
“With the introduction of the local bus service better transport facilities will be available for passengers on all these routes.
As Gupta's official vehicle entered the bus stand for the flag-off ceremony workers were seen manually cleaning stagnant water within the terminus.
